Period 3 - Mireille

Do you think it's fair of the American government to support the production of genetically modified goods and protect Monsanto from legal suits based on the fact that there are economic benefits?

  1. Even though there is no proven harm right now for people to eat them, that doesn’t mean that there is no down side to human beings at all. Besides, the justice should not stand aside just because there are potential economic benefits. Furthermore, I have heard that they secretly(or without the domestic governments’ permission) test them on children in third world countries (and China).

  2. I think since we don't really see any negative effect at this moment or any signs that it might be harmful to us, there is nothing wrong for the government to support them so it can protect the growth of the business. However, protect it from any law suit what-so-ever is going to far for me. If people are trying to sue them for an acceptable reason, it should not be blocked for economic reason. It is great that the state can gain a great profit from this but it is not the reason for the government allowing them to do whatever they want.
