I don't think sinkholes are caused by global warming. But I think more research should be done on sinkholes to understand the cause behind sinkholes and the ways to detect it.I think it is really dangerous and a hazard to our security. I read that about 20 Percent of U.S. Lies in Susceptible Areas. People need to be assured that they are safe and not have to worry about the ground collapsing beneath them. I think there should be more funding going toward research for sinkholes so that we can develop better detection methods.
I don't believe there is enough research or evidence to blame global warming as the cause of sinkholes seeing as this thought is currently just being supported by a correlation of both increasing in recent years. I think more research in the fields of seismic and the shifting of tectonic plates could provide more information on the causes and why these are increasing recently in certain areas. I think an increase of taxes in areas affected by sinkholes is a good idea because clearly it is a serious problem if houses are sinking in on themselves and costing lives in the process. If you pay taxes for things like education because they are important to you then I would be list 'living and feeling comfortable in my own home' as a priority if I lived in an area with this danger.
I think there are definitely more important things that should be stressed about at this point. It's been proven that the earth's behaviour has always been aggressive therefore natural disasters such as this are bound to happen. The main thing is making sure that people aren't harmed when the situation arises. I also think citizens of the area affected would not be pleased if their taxes were raised because of something that happened naturally.
