How should the UN/US deal with North Korea? Do you believe their threats are legitimate?

  1. I believe US/UN should not put as much pressure on North Korea as they did before at least for now. North Korea is now raging about sanctions imposed by UN and so it has declared invalid the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War in 1953. This is apparently a bad sign which shows that NK will likely to do more dangerous moves if UN/US keep putting pressure on it, such as the artillery tests happened today. A better way to deal with North Korea is try to negotiate with it and figures out a more peaceful way they both agree on, even though compromises may need to make. On the other hand, the outdated weapons in NK armies are obviously not threatening to US army, but the undetermined nuclear weapon certainly does. I think it is legitimate for other countries to have nuclear powers, however, countries like NK shouldn’t have it since it will only uses it in bad purposes and cause destructions and chaos.

  2. I know this is inhumane to say, but I think that we should just wipe out North Korea completely or at least abolish the current government. Every day the problem is gets bigger and it’s clear that North Korea will not listen to the world, so to end the problem; we end North Korea, the source of this situation. Sure there will be a lot of aftereffects to doing this, but a small sacrifice is needed to protect the world. North Korea repeatedly threats the US with their nuclear weapons, and that not only endangers the national security of the United States, but to all other countries. Also North Korea keeps their inventory secret so it is impossible to tell if they are really bluffing about their nuclear weapons. North Korea should be punished for their hostile actions.

  3. Well it is clear that NK will not listen to the world but abolish a government cannot be done without hurting the citizens. I really do not think that NK's threat is legite because personally, I do not believe that NK has enough power to do that. Kim Joon-En is young and ambitious. He wants to use fear to show the world that NK is significant but I think he does know that with near to no one stands on the same side with him, he cannot hurt any country without himself going down with it. After all, NK is less developed due to its isolation system and UN should just keep apply sanction until Kim Joon-En realizes that what he is doing is hurting himself and the country.
