Should Canadian employers hire foreign workers? What is your opinion on the 15% rule? Do you think the Foreign Workers Program has been abused by employers?
If the foreign workers have the experience and qualifications to do the job well, I don't see why they shouldn't be hired. Although, employers should be forced to pay everyone the same wage, so they can't just take a Canadian worker, who does the job for 20$, and replace him with a foreign worker who they'll only pay $15. The 15% rule is an abomination to society, for a nation that boasts of it's equality to everyone, it seems that it only applies to native Canadians.
Canadian employers should hire foreign workers, simply because they are usually better than Canadian workers. Foreign workers are usually more efficient, productive, and realistic than Canadian workers, because of the giant disparity that exists between the two nations. The disparity causes Canadian dollar to have a greater purchasing power than the currency from foreign, thus resulting in a day’s wage in Canada out weights a month’s wage in countries such as Philippine. Hence foreign workers will be motived enough to work. Our society is based on exploitation of the uneducated masses. Things we take for granted like housing, clothing, computers are the result of sweat shops and child labour. The 15% law is a way to prevent abuse to the foreign workers, because this sets up a clear standard on the wages of foreign workers to ensure that no one gets under paid.
I think employers should have the right to hire workers from aboard if they have the skills and experience to perform the tasks. However, I disagree with the 15% rule, not only is it discriminatory toward foreign workers, it would take jobs from skilled Canadians. Since employers want to maximize profits, they would show preference toward foreign workers, and more Canadians would become unemployed. This would create a greater burden on the Canadian security as more Canadians are relying on employment insurance and government-funded social programs to maintain their living standards.
